Dolce & Gabbana Classic For Women Eau de Toilette
This is the house's very first fragrance. In 1992, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana handed Jean-Pierre Mary and Martine Pallix a brief that became one of the decade's defining feminine signatures, recognisable by its red cap. It should not be confused with the Pour Femme eau de parfum released twenty years later, built on raspberry, orange blossom and marshmallow: same house, near-identical name, entirely different composition.
The opening is emphatically aldehydic, carrying that powdery, soapy brightness classical perfumery handled better than anyone, lifted by basil, mandarin and bergamot into a sharp, almost green start. The heart then opens a dense bouquet: carnation front and centre, ringed by rose, jasmine, lily of the valley and orange blossom, with coriander holding the arrangement together. The base settles warm and creamy — sandalwood, vanilla, tonka bean and musk — and this is where the wear shows itself, several hours on skin and considerably longer on fabric.
Best for
This is an evening fragrance, at home from autumn through winter, when cold air carries aldehydes without flattening them. It suits anyone after a signature with classical bearing rather than a sweet modern floral: the structure, the sillage and the sheer presence belong to another era of perfumery, and that is precisely what sets it apart now. Anyone drawn to vintage and rare perfumes will recognise the great aldehydic floral school, the kind of scent worn from the start of an evening to the end of it.
Why choose Dolce & Gabbana Classic For Women?
Founded in Milan in 1985, Dolce & Gabbana built its imagination on Sicily and Mediterranean sensuality, and this first fragrance is the most direct expression of it: warm, unapologetic, never quiet. We carry it in four formats, including two vintage bottles at 25 and 50 ml and a 100 ml tester, so the composition can be tried before committing to a full bottle. Among the eau de toilette fragrances for women in our catalogue, it is one of very few carrying three decades of history without having been redrawn to suit current taste.

Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Dolce & Gabbana Classic and the Pour Femme eau de parfum?
They are two distinct fragrances. Classic is the 1992 original, a floral aldehyde built on basil, carnation and a base of sandalwood and vanilla, known by its red cap. The Pour Femme eau de parfum, relaunched twenty years later, rests on raspberry, orange blossom and marshmallow: far sweeter and noticeably more modern in feel.
What does Dolce & Gabbana Classic For Women smell like?
It opens on a rush of powdery, soapy aldehydes, tempered by basil, mandarin and bergamot. The heart is a full floral bouquet led by carnation, with rose, jasmine, lily of the valley and orange blossom alongside it. The base turns warm and creamy: sandalwood, vanilla, tonka bean and musk. The overall effect is classical and assertive.
What sizes does Dolce & Gabbana Classic For Women come in?
Four presentations are in stock: the 100 ml spray, a 100 ml tester, and two vintage bottles at 25 and 50 ml from an earlier production run. The vintage sizes are limited and will not be restocked once they sell through, as the composition is no longer bottled in those capacities.
When should I wear Dolce & Gabbana Classic For Women?
It is first and foremost an evening fragrance, most at home from autumn through winter. The aldehydes and the woody-vanilla base open up better in cool air, while summer heat tends to make them overbearing. It suits dinners, nights out and dressed occasions rather than an ordinary day at the office.
